MID YEAR FREAK OUT BOOK TAG ||FREAKING YEAR, 2020.

Hello, my dear bookish cuties. How are you today??? I know it is way too late to do this post but hey, it’s about books and nothing intrigues me more than a good book to read and a blog that talks about all the books I have read. I wanted to do this post for a long time but I got too sick and I didn’t know what to do so I didnt write it and today I felt like writing again so here I am back again and I can’t wait to jump into this post. So without any further ado, let’s start today’s post, shall we???

The mid-year is gone but books still exist so I can’t avoid doing this post. I am so excited to do this post as I have been dying to talk about my books so here I am. I hope you like this post but if you don’t…πŸ™„πŸ™„OOPS. So let’s go, people.

πŸ‘‘|What is the best book that you’ve read so far in 2020?|πŸ‘‘

These two books have been the best book of not only this year but the best books of all time. I have loved these stories so much that I couldn’t even put them down. I am so much in love with them. These books are on the Green Room by Nag Mani (my all-time favourite book) level.

Bring Me Their Hearts: is a novel where a heartless girl, Zera is told to bring the heart of prince Lucien so that her witch can control him and prevent the upcoming war between humans and witches. The events that follow lead to a saga of love, friendship and betrayal.

Dorothy In The Land Of Monsters: is a tale of Dorothy a girl who lives in the grey world of Kansas City with no happiness but one stormy day she gets stuck in her house and the storm blows her to a weird place where everything is colourful but the only thing that interferes with the colourful atmosphere is the red blood that is dripping from everywhere. Dorothy wants to get out of this place and go back home so she takes the yellow and red road to The Emerald City to meet the Great Wizard of Oz. On the journey, she meets a zombie, an axeman and a werelion and they all embark in a journey that brings adventures and love in the life of Dorothy.

So these were the summaries of my 2 favourite books. I am in love with them and I can’t wait to read the next books in the series. I have read many books and series but these two are my genuinely favourite books. I will be writing a detailed review of both of them in a few days.

What has been your favourite sequel of the first half of the year?

Find Me Their Bones (Bring Me Their Hearts series, #1) by Sara Wolf.

So I don’t have to even hint on which one it can be. Find Me Their Bones is the sequel of Bring Me Their Hearts series and this one book made me cry so much that I couldn’t read more than 15 pages and that got me hooked to this series. I didn’t finish the book but I loved the start so much. This is the first book I left unfinished as I couldn’t stop crying at all. I will be reading it again as soon as I get the courage to touch the book as the starting has the worst beginning of my life. There is news that the 3rd book is going to be out soon so I will continue this book when it releases.

Bring Me Their Bones:

No one can save her.

In order to protect Prince Lucien d’Malvane’s heart, Zera had to betray him. Now, he hates the sight of her. Trapped in Cavanos as a prisoner of the king, she awaits the inevitable moment her witch severs their magical connection and finally ends her life. But fate isn’t ready to give her up just yet.

With freedom coming from the most unlikely of sources, Zera is given a second chance at life as a Heartless. But it comes at a terrible price. As the king mobilizes his army to march against the witches, Zera must tame an elusive and deadly valkerax trapped in the tunnels underneath the city if she wants to regain her humanity. Winning over a bloodthirsty valkerax? Hard. Winning back her friends before war breaks out? A little harder.

But a Heartless winning back Prince Lucien’s heart?

The hardest thing she’s ever done.

As I haven’t read the book I just wrote the summary from Goodreads but when I read it and review it, I will use my own summary although that will take a long time. So I hope you adjust with this.

Is there a new release that you haven’t read yet but you’re really excited to?

These two books are very close to my heart because the stories are so unique and I haved always been intrigued by mysteries and mental asylum stories are such a great read if it is beautifully carved into a great thriller. Yes…you can call me a thriller expert as I have read this genre since childhood. Reading is all I need and if this genre has a book written about a mental asylum then that’s all I need to start getting jumping and excited for a book. I am still dancing. I can’t wait for October to start.

Somewhere in the Dark is about an event manager, Jessie who becomes a scapegoat in the murder mystery of famous singer who Jessie stalked like crazy and it’s up to Jessie to solve the mystery if she wants to avoid getting arrested for a crime she didn’t commit.

The Patient is about an overconfident and smart psychiatrist H. Parker who shares his accounts when he worked at a dreary mental hospital. He shares about a 40-year-old man who was admitted at the mental hospital since the age of 6 and is kept in solitary confinement. He decides to find out the illness that he has as nobody in the hospital knows what his illness really is. The events that unfold as he tries to cure the patient are both scary and dangerous.

What is your most anticipated release for the second half of the year?

Throwaway Girls by Andrea Contos.

This book is my most anticipated release as it is so intriguing. I have this book’s eARC. The concept of this novel is so intriguing that I can’t think I want to avoid it. I am dying to read this book but I have so many books on my TBR that I don’t know when this book will come in but I still want to read it and I will read it just that it might take me 5-6 years or even moreπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Don’t even think I am joking. I have so many books on my TBR that I don’t know where to fit which one. So yeah 5-6 years are just an estimate. By the way let me take you through this book’s summary:

Throwaway Girls: Caroline Lawson is three months away from freedom, otherwise known as graduation day. That’s when she’ll finally escape her rigid prep school and the parents who thought they could convert her to being straight. Until then, Caroline is keeping her head down, pretending to be the perfect student even though she is crushed by her family and heartbroken over the girlfriend who left for California. But when her best friend Madison disappears, Caroline feels compelled to get involved in the investigation. She has her own reasons not to trust the police, and she owes Madison β€” big time.

Suddenly Caroline realizes how little she knew of what her friend was up to. Caroline has some uncomfortable secrets about the hours before Madison disappeared, but they’re nothing compared to the secrets Madison has been hiding. And why does Mr McCormack, their teacher, seem to know so much about them? It’s only when Caroline discovers other missing girls that she begins to close in on the truth. Unlike Madison, the other girls are from the wrong side of the tracks. Unlike Madison’s, their disappearances haven’t received much attention. Caroline is determined to find out what happened to them and why no one seems to notice. But as every new discovery leads Caroline closer to the connection between these girls and Madison, she faces an unsettling truth.

There’s only one common denominator between the disappearances: Caroline herself.

What is your biggest disappointment so far?

These two are the biggest disasters of the year for me. The Time Machine and Nightmare Asylum are my two biggest flops of the mid-year. I don’t think I can ever think about how torturous they were. Especially Nightmare Asylum, that was an ultimate disaster. I will never read them ever again. The Time Machine was a little good though, not so bad but to be honest that book went over my head, a total bouncer. I didn’t like them at all as one had weird and babysit horror stories and the other had too much physics for life. I am a commerce student so you can imagine the impact of physics on my poor little brain. As The Time Machine is a very famous story, I will give you a summary of that one book, but please don’t expect any summary of Nightmare Asylum.

The Time Machine: β€œI’ve had a most amazing time….”

So begins the Time Traveller’s astonishing firsthand account of his journey 800,000 years beyond his own eraβ€”and the story that launched H.G. Wells’s successful career and earned him his reputation as the father of science fiction. With a speculative leap that still fires the imagination, Wells sends his brave explorer to face a future burdened with our greatest hopes…and our darkest fears. A pull of the Time Machine’s lever propels him to the age of a slowly dying Earth.  There he discovers two bizarre racesβ€”the ethereal Eloi and the subterranean Morlocksβ€”who not only symbolize the duality of human nature but offer a terrifying portrait of the men of tomorrow as well.  Published in 1895, this masterpiece of invention captivated readers on the threshold of a new century. Thanks to Wells’s expert storytelling and provocative insight, The Time Machine will continue to enthral readers for generations to come.

What is your biggest surprise so far?

I didn’t expect anything from these two books like nothing at all. I thought that Monster Problems was a childish book and I really didn’t want to read it but I can’t stop recommending it to everyone. I loved it that much. I even wrote a review on it I will post the link below. Then we talk about The Little Town Creeps, THE BEST NOVEL ON EARTH. I didn’t think I would like this book because I read it after Nightmare Asylum so I didn’t want to read it but when I did…OMG!!! IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!! I loved loved loved it. I can’t tell you how nice the short story was. I had so much fun reading it and it also got me out of my reading slump. The review will be out soon so keep on waiting but until then…check out the summaries of these two wonderful books.

Monster Problems: Sixth-grader Brad makes the mistake of drawing instead of paying attention in class. When Brad’s parents ground him from drawing, his bratty little brother Daley rubs it in. Later that night, Brad is surprised when a mysterious crow delivers a pen to his bedroom window. Missing his beloved drawing and frustrated with his brother, Brad uses the pen to draw a Daley-Destroyer, a giant slimy green creature that he envisions β€œgetting” Daley. To Brad’s surprise, the pen is a magic pen, and the Daley-Destroyer comes to life, just as he imagined it, slime and all, and starts going after Daley! To makes things worse, only he and Daley can see it! Can Brad erase his monster problem before it’s too late?

The Little Town Creeps: “Does science beat myth?”

For ”The Littletown Creeps’’, four teenage boys obsessed with horror movies, it was obvious what that thing was, but it didn’t seem possible. How could the horror they loved on the screen suddenly become a threat in their real world? How could they, armed only with books and fragments of folklore, prepare themselves before the next full moon?

Who is your fictional crush from this year?

My fictional crush is Prince Lucien from Bring Me Their Hearts series. I love his bad-boy attitude and sweet nature. His past and his pain reflect so nicely in the story, this is the only character that has ever intrigued me and made me love him so much that I cried when he was in pain and laughed when he laughed. I know this sounds crazy but the kind of character he has in this novel is incredible yet intriguing. So yup, I love Prince Lucien😍😍😍.

Who is your new favourite character?

My new favourite character is Dorothy and Zera, the heartless. These two characters are from Bring Me Their Hearts Series and Dorothy In The Land Of Monsters. I have loved the funny and cute behaviour of the characters, the wit and comebacks are super. I couldn’t control my laughter because of their craziness. I had so much fun, I can’t even tell you.

A book that made you happy?

I got a special review request from Story Mirror Publishers and I read this book for that and trust me I loved it. It was so good. This book was different and amazing. I haven’t read many self-help books but this is my favourite of the ones I have read. It is so unique and special. The way it is written and the concept is just amazing. I have done a review on it, I will post the link.

Your favourite book to movie/tv show that you’ve seen so far?

The Haunting Of Hill House by Shirley Jackson.

This series blew me away, it was so good and I loved the novel so this series was a bumper offer for me and I loved both the series and the novel, they were so good. I can’t wait for its season 2!!!! I am dying to watch it😍😍😍!!!!

What is the most beautiful book that you have bought?

Dangerous Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl.

This is the most beautiful cover of all the books I have ever bought. It’s just so lovely. I sometimes stare at it like crazy and just adore its beauty. It’s a really nice book and I will be reading it next month for the fantasy November Month that I will be celebrating because it’s my mom and dad’s anniversary and I want to celebrate their magical love story🀭🀭.

      1. I hope you get a break soon. Everything’s okay here. I’m full on Halloween mode, but I’m anxious about our election next week.

        1. I won’t be getting a break until March 2021. It’s going to be a long year and colleges have been extended because of the online lectures so that teachers can cover the syllabus, half of the syllabus has been cut from our school but as new books can’t be printed we are using old books and it’s exhausting teachers as they have to create their own books. Kim, I can’t tell you how hard covid has made college studies. I saw your Halloween posts. It did lighten up my mood and make me feel relaxed and don’t worry about the elections, everything will be fine😊.

            1. We got a small break because of Diwali Festival but it’s too small and I am too tired Kim. I can’t tell you how exhausting this is for all of us. The teachers are rushing the syllabus because we are behind and students are not able to cope up with them. 😞😞πŸ₯Ί. Its devastating!!!

  6. Nice to see you back. I haven’t actually finished any books this year, I don’t seem to be able to concentrate on reading at all. Also, I haven’t been well for a while now, and I am waiting on the results of a Covid-19 test I had on Monday.
    Best wishes, Pete. xx
