EMBARRASSING ME || READER’S CONVERSATION.

Have you ever embarrassed yourself because you didn’t know about a certain author? The stare that you get from a fellow book reader is something you don’t want to see from anyone. It feels like you just met Satan on the way and said, “Sup brother? How’s the burning people in hell going?? Business going good??” And he says, “Great, I will see you soon there.” Worst example on earth. I really don’t know what I am writing. This is just the happiness of finishing 2 books today. (reviews coming out soon)

After horrendously embarrassing myself in the excerpt, let me tell you about this new content post of mine. It is basically me talking to other bookworms and the situation ending up with him/her trying to murder me because I didn’t know a certain author or book or anything related to reading. Well, do you know the best part of this blog? It is that you don’t know my address so you can’t murder me either. 😊 Sorry.

Bookworms sometimes become a headache.

Hello and welcome to my blog: Magical BookLush.

This is a horrible story. After this story, you might even hate me. So continue reading.

How many of you know Nicholas Sparks?? Well, I didn’t know him until this incident happened.

My friend and I were at school together, just chit-chatting. I was a new student back then but as I was the only girl who had come from foreign, I was very famous.

A girl named Mahek sat next to me on the bench at lunchtime, I was scared about my first test so I was reading my BA textbook trying to memorize stuff in an area that literally felt like a fish market. When she looked over me and…

I am a human being!!!

Conversation time:

“Hey stop reading, nobody reads at break time.”

“I am new over here, first test, super scared.”

“Don’t worry, I don’t think Africa and India has much study difference.”

“How do you know that I am from Africa? Nobody knows me, I am new here.”

“You are new that’s why everybody knows you. Don’t worry you will do great in the test.”

“Thanks, what’s your name? “

“Mahek, and you? “

“Wait, you know me but you don’t know my name? This is insane.”

“Everybody calls you African girl that’s how I know you. Tell me your name, hobby and a little about Africa. I have time before the bell rings.”

“Ok, my name is Suzan, I love reading and…”

“You read?? I thought people from Africa don’t read. Who is your favourite author?”

“Why did you think like that? Just because there are cannibals in Africa does not mean that we are illiterate. Wow, you’re classic. By the way, I like Agatha Christie, Terry Pratchett, Harlan Coben. What are your favourites?”

“No, well, I didn’t mean that but just asking, you know most NRIs (Non-Residential Indians) don’t read. Oh, I love Paul Coelho, Agatha Christie and Nicholas Sparks.”

“Who is Nicholas Sparks? Never heard of him before.”

“You don’t know Nicholas Sparks?? Are you serious??”

“Yeah, I don’t know him. Sorry.”

Conversation over.

Yeah, she excused herself never to return again. The next day, I waved to her but she just ignored me. I embarrassed myself badly.

It still feels awkward seeing her at school every day.

I will be writing these posts just to show some people that it’s okay to not know some authors. There are literally millions of them out there. Stop getting scared and start accepting the truth.

For your information, I still haven’t looked him up and still don’t know anything about him.

That’s it for today. Like, share and follow my blog for some more embarrassing posts. Comment and tell me if you went through something like this too.

Tomorrow is real issues’ quip post, I really am up to no good.

  1. Well, if it makes you feel any better, although I have heard of Nicholas Sparks (mainly due to my years as a librarian), I haven’t read any of his books.πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

  2. I knew he wrote the book of the film The Notebook, because I have seen the film. But that’s it.
I am always up front about who I don’t know, and what I haven’t read. People over here think I must have a screw loose because I have never read any book by J.K. Rowling, and have no intention of doing so.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  3. The world abounds in snobbery which is really a form of tribalism. I judge you on what you have read , or maybe on the music you listen too , or the school you attended . Sometimes this is extended to the money in your pocket or your job status. ‘ I like him he is really well educated did you know he speaks four languages and went to Eton ? ‘
‘ If you can meet with triumph or disaster or walk with kings not loose the common touch ‘

    1. That is so true. A person you know for many years will be a disgust to you if he or she does something that you don’t like. It hurts but that’s the truth. I really like talking to you. You are a great man. πŸ™‚βœŒ
